The Korean Society for Plant Image Science is a community of over 300 members dedicated to advancing education, research, and industry based on the interdisciplinary field of Plant Image Science. Established in 2015 as the Korean Society for Phenomics, the society began with small-scale workshops and has since grown to regularly host symposiums and academic conferences, providing a platform for sharing the latest developments and technological trends in plant image science.

In 2022, the society changed its name to Plant Image Science Research Group to better encompass all those conducting plant-related research based on imaging technologies. At the 2023 Annual Conference, in response to the growing interest in the field, the society took a bold step forward and rebranded itself as the Korean Society for Plant Image Science.

Plant Image Science contributes to a wide range of areas, including:

  • Digital breeding through high-throughput phenotyping,
  • Precision and smart agriculture based on remote imaging diagnostics,
  • Innovative crop protection through precise identification of pests, diseases, and weeds, and
  • Development of autonomous precision agricultural machinery enabled by field-based imaging diagnostics.

The Korean Society for Plant Image Science is committed to supporting its members across the entire pipeline—from education and research to industrial application—of image-based technologies. Together with our members, we strive to contribute to the advancement of Korean agriculture through the realization of smart farming.
